Riot admits it was a very difficult day. LoL developers reveal their new plans

Rioter spoke on behalf of the team that is responsible for the balance in LoL. What changes can be expected?

The opening day of the 2023 season of League of Legends was not pleasant for both fans of the game and its developers. The designers have accustomed players to the fact that the season launch trailer is made at a really high level, and what appeared on the official Youtube channel from the developers greatly disappointed the community.

As a result, all the teams that are working on the game have had problems because of this, and the developers as a whole have promised to communicate better with the community by telling them in advance what they are planning. This was addressed by Rioter, who is responsible for balancing gameplay on Summoner’s Rift. What exactly did he have to say?

Riot on communication with players

Riot Phroxzon, who is the lead designer on the team responsible for balancing gameplay on Summoner’s Rift, spoke out about the team’s commitment to work and how it communicates with players and addresses their requests and suggestions.

Yday was tough for everyone; the community, the team. On SRT, our commitment to improving the game hasn’t changed & we’ll continue addressing player concerns in as timely a manner as possible

Striking balance of “sharing early” but “not over-promising” is tough, but gonna try

Many players commented on the post, writing that the players’ criticism is purely because they care about League of Legends as much as the developers do. Rioter, meanwhile, shared plans for one of the upcoming updates, writing what changes can be expected in patch 13.2.

  • GW changes (40% on small component)
  • Small scope ADC satisfaction changes (situational durability)
  • Fighter haste & sustain
  • Multiple tenacity sources stack properly
  • small Chemtech soul + base buff
  • Normal balance changes

So players can expect much bigger changes than in regular updates. On patches, relatively little will change, although there is a chance that the developers will announce major fixes a little earlier.
