Another clue about Project L from Riot Games. Is this going to be the best fighting game ever?

Riot aims really high, they want their production to surpass all others. But for that, we will have to wait.

More than 2 years have passed since the first announcement of Project L during the great 10th-anniversary event of Riot Games. During this time, developers shared only rudimentary information with the community.

Now one of the employees of Riot Games decided to mention this forgotten production on his Twitter. After a short entry, it can be concluded that the devs aim really high.

Project L

At the end of 2019, Riot Games decided to introduce a few new games to its community, then focused around League of Legends. The presented games included Valorant, Wild Rift, and Project L, a new fight game set in the world of Runeterra. Although Wild Rift, Valorant, Legends of Runterra, and even Ruined King and “The Funny Ziggs Game That Nobody Remembers (Hextech Mayhem)” have already been released, there are still a lot of people waiting for Riot’s ‘Tekken interpretation’. But there is very little information about it.

A few months ago in 2021, one of the designers – Tom Cannon – answered questions from players.

I’m glad you’re waiting for Project L. We’ve already implemented a lot of key systems, but we still have a lot to do. Don’t expect a beta (public or private) any time soon, and certainly not this year.

There has been a silence since then that was broken by KenAdamsNSA on his Twitter account. He published an entry about the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 – a fighting game from 2011. Its author admitted that it is the best game of its type ever created and he is in love with it.

Developers face a difficult challenge to compete with well-known productions such as Tekken or Mortal Combat. Placing the game in the universe related to League of Legends is not everything and Project L itself has to be a very good game to prevent it from being abandoned by fans shortly after its premiere.
