Riot admits they went overboard with nerfs. After 48 hours, they have to save this LoL character
After patch 12.7, players turned on LoL and suddenly there was a surprise. One of the characters’ nerfs were so severe that almost immediately her winrate dropped significantly.
It’s rare for Riot to have to roll out hotfixes after their own nerfs. And yet such a situation takes place. Only 48 hours after the release of Update 12.7, the Zeri patch was released to the servers.
It’s quite a funny situation as all characters with the lowest winrate have very few games played. For example:
- Ezreal with a winrate of 42% has 10,000 games (in the u.gg database).
- Ryze with a winrate of 42% has 27,000 games.
- And then there’s Zeri, who has a 42% win rate and 71,000 games played.
It is evident that people normally chose Zeri and did not expect her to be so weak. However, the numbers do not lie. All the statistics pages show a collapse in the number of games won.
This is most evident in Korea. Zeri was really liked there. She was even TOP 1 on bot at some point. And now she finished in 24th place. All this over the course of literally several updates.
Riot saves the character with buffs
A few hours ago a patch with Zeri buffs hit the live servers. Rioter himself writes that he went too far with nerfs:
And it ended with a breakdown in winrate. Now the situation should improve, although the players themselves do not know if it is worth the risk.
