CDPR about the first expansion to Cyberpunk 2077. Short, but very important information

CDPR confirmed that no more updates should be expected this year. Theories that developers are still preparing something can therefore be considered untrue.

The CEO of CD Projekt is perhaps the most appropriate person to just put an end to any rumors that have been spreading over the past few days. We would like to remind you that there is an unconfirmed theory on the web that CDPR wants to release a holiday update with additional, typically winter items.

It is known today that this is not true. The “Rzeczpospolita” website interviewed Adam Kciński, who mentioned, inter alia, that:

This year, we will no longer be releasing any updates to the game. We are working intensively on the version for the latest generation of consoles, which will be released in the first quarter of 2022 along with a major update – Patch 1.5.

First words about the new expansion

Some interesting information about the current division of employees appeared in the interview. In total, around 1,200 people are currently employed, while 660 of them are working directly for CDPR. About 1/3 is to deal with Cyberpunk 2077 updates and the next-gen version. So what are the others doing?

Information about the expansion appears here:

Every month more and more people are working on the first addition to “Cyberpunk”, while the rest are working on “Gwent” and other projects.

So it can be assumed that the expansion is actually at an advanced stage. Gwent is unlikely to take very long, at least for the moment. It is also worth quoting the words about the yet unannounced project, based on one of the studio’s IPs.

Spokko studio belonging to the group, with 50 developers on board, is working on “The Witcher: Monster Slayer”, while the newly acquired studio The Molasses Flood has started work on a project based on one of our IPs.

It is still unknown when to expect the expansion. However, work on it is in progress.
