Description of the new CSGO update. Most PC players won’t notice any difference

Counter Strike

CS: GO developers want their title to be even more accessible to Steam Deck and controllers.

The first data appeared about 6 months ago, informing that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be available on Steam Deck.

Recently, it has become a fact, and now Valve’s developers are adding an update to the game to make their FPS more accessible for the portable console and controllers. What exactly changed?

FlickStick mode and tooltips explaining the console controller settings

The FlickStick mode itself is a fairly innovative way to control games that got on the market 3 years ago, and now Valve has implemented it in CS: GO. Below you can see the full list of changes to the FPS:

General:

  • Fixed Hammer crash on startup when not logged into Steam.
  • Fixed input delay after closing radial menu.

Steam Input:

  • FlickStick mode is now enabled in Options > Controller, as opposed to the SteamInput Configurator. Bind your Right Stick (or preferred aiming stick) to “Joystick Camera” in the configurator.
  • Fixed SteamInput ActionSet being set to “MenuControls” when re-focusing on window.
  • Refinements to FlickStick behavior.

UI:

  • Tooltips to help clarify console controller settings.
  • Various fixes to sliders.

Linux:

  • Added experimental Vulkan support. Add -vulkan to your command line to enable Vulkan.

CS: GO on Steam Deck is indeed getting more and more playable, but Valve still has a lot to deal with in this regard. One of the things is, of course, the servers to which the users of the portable console are to go. It is possible that they will play together with PC players.
