DJ Sona is a skin that needs refreshing. Why are the fans of the heroine complaining about it so much?
It’s hard to find a League of Legends player who doesn’t know Sona’s ultimate skins. This skin is really popular and has hundreds of fanarts. Unfortunately, despite its recognition, it does not arouse such admiration as it did a few years ago.
Why do many of the heroine’s fans complain about it and think Riot should think about its solid refresh?
DJ Sona’s big problems
Sona’s super skin appeared in the game on February 25, 2015, i.e. over 7 years ago. It was a really big hit at the time, as the heroine not only changed forms during the game but each one is accompanied by catchy songs. Many believed that no ultimate could beat the success of DJ Sona for a long time.
Over the years, this skin has been a favorite cosmetic accessory among fans of this heroine. Players didn’t have much choice as most of the older skins didn’t offer much. The character also did not have a legend that would significantly change its animations or dialogue lines.
7 years have passed and a lot has changed. The heroine not only received new lines but also had a mini-work and refreshment of visual effects. There was only one problem – her skin ultimately suffered a lot from it. Why?
One of the players raised the topic of Sona’s super skin and pointed out all its disadvantages. In his opinion, the skin needs refreshing, or a remake so that it is really worth the price. Lazaros_K wrote:

In a further statement, the player listed the most important problems that have arisen in recent years. It turns out that the skin has not only gotten old but has simply been weakened and lost some of its original effects.
When DJ Sona was released , she had evolving music. This means that when you are in game there is a base music that plays. When Q , W and E each were used for the first time , a new music layer was added to the base track.
That is no longer working and confirmed by Riot that it is intentional. Now when Q or E is casted for the first time, all 3 layers are instantly added and using W doesn’t work at all.
The player divided the rest of his post into paragraphs and in each of them he described what could be changed to make the skin interesting and aesthetic again.
New VFX
Recently Sona (Base and all skins) received a VFX update and now DJ Sonas VFX is disappointing, while other Sona skins were improved a lot .

New VO
Sona, a while ago received updated VO and at the same time , PsyOps Sona , a legendary skin with new VO was released. Both Base Sona and PsyOps, have interactions with other Champions and Skins, when a takedown is made, when a ward is placed, etc. DJ Sona was the only skin to not recieve new VO. It has zero interactions and a small amount of voicelines for each form when commanding a move or attack.
New model
The Model could use some updates as well. For example adding glow to her speaker outlines, in my opinion, would make the skin look more modern.
New animations
Most animations are fine but DJ Sona doesn’t have a HomeStart move animation and instead shakes her head very fast . She has also lost her HomeGuard move animation and instead also shakes her head really fast.
DJ Sona has changed for the worse from release in terms of Music,VFX and animations which are key selling points of this skin and is not worthy of being an Ultimate skin, especially the cost of it. She needs a skin rework to modernize it and fix the issues. Her current and only legendary skin as of now, PsyOps Sona, is better in every department.
