Vel’Koz from League of Legends will receive the VFX update. How does the refreshed hero look like?
Vel’Koz will receive completely new animations and sound effects for his skills.
Over the past few months, Riot has been trying to refresh the look of the skills of older LoL heroes. VFX’s were given to i.a. Varus, Sona, Syndra, Vayne or Malzahar.
The time has come for another champion – Vel’Koz. What do the refreshed skills look like?
Vel’Koz VFX in League of Legends
Vel’Koz is a hero who appeared on Summoner’s Rift on February 27, 2014. As you can see, 8 years will soon pass from his premiere. Although his skills are not too bad, and many of the skins are of solid quality, the developers decided to refresh the effects of his skills to make them more readable and better reflect the character of a champion.
Similar to the previous VFX updates we’ve made in the past (Syndra, Zilean, Malzahar, etc), we’re working on updates to the Visual Effects (VFX) of champions whose spell effects are in need of some love. Our aim is to get their VFXs to current League standards and improve gameplay clarity. This time, it’s Vel’Koz’s turn, for 12.3’s PBE Patch!
The Infernal and Blackfrost skins have only received minor fixes as they are more recent. For the skins listed, the AOE metrics have been changed to make it a bit more interesting. The width of the projectile on Q has also been adjusted.
In addition, the R laser beam has been refreshed to have a more intense center and softer edges. This is to reduce the impression that the laser is a solid rectangle. The change is intended to give the skills more character.
The intensity of the hit point at the end of the beam has also been improved.

Some of the hero’s fans have already commented on the visual update of their favorite. Some of them claim that Vel’Koz didn’t need any major changes, but what has been presented looks really good.
Im just here to say I love how the ult looks on all skins now, feels a lot bigger and more powerful
