Changes to refund tokens in LoL. Will tokens be removed? How will refunds take place?

Developers have announced that they are removing refund tokens from League of Legends.

A new season in LoL always means a lot of changes and news. The Rioters have already told something about the planned changes in the ranking season, the names of new heroes were revealed and it was announced that several older ones will get new skins in the near future.

In addition to all this, something else will change – it’s all about the well-known refund tokens. Riot has occasionally given an extra token to those who didn’t have the maximum number, which is three per account.

It turns out that the developers are abandoning this system. Refund tokens will be removed from League of Legends.

Content refunds in LoL

As it was mentioned above – refund tokens will be removed from the game, and the system for returning purchased content will be the same as in other titles from Riot Games.

We’re making some changes to how refunds work in League of Legends. For starters, every player should have their refund tokens refreshed up to the maximum amount of 3 to start off 2023. In the past, the complexity associated with maintaining this system has led to delays in the annual refresh, so we’ve opted to bring the entire League community up to 3 tokens.

However, due to the aforementioned complexity, we’ve made the difficult decision to remove refund tokens entirely later this year in patch 13.11. This will bring the refund policy in line with our other games, removing the need to maintain an older system just for League. As a result, the base refund policy will shift in patch 13.11 as well. Unused, eligible content will be refundable for up to 14 days from purchase.

To recap, the tokens will disappear in patch 13.11 if not used by that date and the refund policy will adjust at the same time. Until then, you can continue to use the tokens as they have operated in the past. We will provide more information and reminders as patch 13.11 draws closer.

What items in League of Legends are subject to refunds?

We will refund any unused content on the “refundable” list below purchased within the last 14 days, except as otherwise required under applicable law.

Once we’ve issued a refund, the affected content will be removed from your account.
