This is more like Valve. Blocked edition of a CSGO project that has been in development for 7 years

Counter Strike

Classic Offensive is a project that has been running since 2015. Hardly anyone knows it because it was extremely buggy. However, it was fully rebuilt, and its authors intended to officially publish it.

Classic Offensive had a simple basis. Its task was to combine mechanics, maps, and key elements from CS 1.6 with Global Offensive. In short, it was supposed to be 1.6 ported to CS: GO. In the early years, the development process was going quite reluctantly until the idea was completely abandoned.

In 2019, however, something changed. Zool, the popular mod creator, went back to creating Classic Offensive and got it done. The project came to life, a dozen or so people were involved in it, and they transferred all the elements one by one.

Until Valve came and the fun was over

Classic Offensive’s ambition was to go beyond the boundaries of a mod. The whole thing was so big that the creators of the project asked Valve for a license. Unfortunately, the company refused again and the regulations were changed.

It’s a pity because the mod was really interesting and practically finished. It has been in the making for a good 7 years. CO had some maps, weapons, and mechanics transferred. In theory, you can still try Classic Offensive, but it will be an unfinished version with a non-working menu and a lot of bugs.

Valve is unlikely to change their minds in this regard. Mainly because it could hurt the popularity of CS: GO. Even if the assumptions and intentions of the creators are good, it is difficult to say how it would end.

At the moment, Valve’s position is so clear that ZooL has cut itself off from the Internet.
