Valve developers have partially returned to paid CS: GO. What do players think about this?
In the past, access to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was paid, but at some point, the developers decided to transfer the game to the free-to-play model. This resulted in a lot of cheaters who were able to return to Valve’s servers for free after being banned. Currently, CS is still a “free” title but must be paid to gain full access to ranked games.
Should CS: GO be free, according to players?
One of the CS community members, using the name “Nqth_” on Reddit, decided to conduct a poll in which he examined whether players prefer FPS to be free or paid. As you can see in the graph below – the overwhelming majority of people would prefer that players should pay for the game again.
Free-to-play players can no longer rank up, so there are fewer cheaters anymore. Some people can test the title and thus find out if they want to pay for it. On the other hand, it still attracts people who want to try out cheats.
Either way, 73.5% of the players surveyed prefer developers to return to paid CS: GO. It is difficult to say whether the studio will actually make such a decision in the future, but at the moment it is not going to happen.
