Does age affect CSGO skills? It has certainly been getting worse for a certain age

The CS: GO community has long wondered if age influences skill in the game.
In both traditional sports and electronic sports, there is a tendency for individual players to end their careers and retire in some way. After that, they mainly become trainers or celebrities. The CS: GO community has been wondering for some time whether age influences skill in a game. It was decided to investigate this matter on the pro players’ example.
Age has little effect on skill in CS: GO
In the charts below you can see the ratio of age to rating and age to damage respectively:
- ALSO – Valve’s strange decision to block payments not only from Russia, but also to Ukraine. Big criticism
As you can see, there is no correlation between age and effectiveness, and thus skill in the game. Players, regardless of age, get completely different results on different levels.
Why do older players sometimes “retire” and are less effective?
This can be caused by various factors, including burnout. Older players have already achieved a lot on the Counter-Strike scene very often and they simply do not want to continue training and pursue their careers. It is often related to the fact that because of the family or simply the will to stabilize, they are forced to let go a bit with the development of their skills, which of course affects strongly the decision to “retire”.
The belief that older players are less effective in CS: GO is not true, although it has probably been drawn from traditional sports. Nevertheless, also in electronic sports there is a mechanism in which young players replace veterans.
