Valve’s strange decision to block payments not only from Russia, but also to Ukraine. Big criticism

Counter Strike

Valve has done something strange, people playing or creating games from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine have paused payments.

Valve is starting to make concrete decisions about Russia’s aggression. In the end, Russia has not cut itself off from the rest of the world, so Russian players can still play CS: GO. But they can no longer sell skins, trade money on Steam, or make money from releasing their own games.

Such limitations appear to be normal, natural, and necessary. The problem is that, apart from Russia, also people living in Ukraine are subject to such restrictions.

Valve’s strange decision is controversial

People from Russia, Belarus, and, oddly enough, from Ukraine have already received information a while ago that their payments are withheld. It just means that:

  • Game developers cannot earn money on their productions that appeared on Steam
  • Players cannot make transactions related to games, skins in games (including CS: GO)

The content of the e-mail leaves no doubts. It is about Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. Belarus and Russia are understandable, but why was Ukraine uncluded? This decision is extremely criticized on social media.

Initially, it seemed like a mistake, but no – it’s been a few days since these emails were sent and people living in Ukraine are still unable to earn money from their games on Steam, cannot make transactions related to cosmetic items, etc.
