Should Minecraft zombies be able to use doors as shields and weapons? How could it look like

What would a zombie that is able to defend and attack with a door look like?

Minecraft mobs are relatively predictable, and experienced players are unlikely to be afraid when facing numerous opponents even on their first night. Many fans have already known the game to such an extent that they are looking for a challenge only in modifications or in the hardcore mode, which, in a way, forces the player to play more carefully.

However, there are concepts on the web that would give some innovation into the mobs that have been known for over a decade. One of the ideas for a new zombie skill was shared by a Reddit user who quickly gained the support of numerous Minecraft fans.

New zombie’s abilities

A user with the nickname Creative-Kreature shared his idea with the community, which includes giving zombies the ability to defend themselves and attack with doors.

Even though shields made their way to Minecraft some time ago, no mob is able to use them. The aforementioned user decided to change this.

Zombies love breaking down and picking up wooden doors, but it always struck me as kind of odd looking to see them holding that big door in their hand as a tiny item, accomplishing nothing with it.

So, the idea is, when they steal their prize, they equip it, holding it in both hands to produce a body-size shield.

The Zombie isn’t quite smart enough to realize it can block melee attacks too (besides, a door isn’t exactly a standard shield), so most of the time, it holds it down like this, only putting it up in response to projectiles.

The player also mentions that this could be assigned to the difficulty level, which at the moment mainly corresponds to the amount of damage dealt by the creatures encountered in the world.

Since both of the zombie’s hands are full, they need a new attack, so I figure they just attack using the door. It’s a slower attack than your average zombie, but it has longer reach. While they’re attacking, they obviously can’t block at the same time.

When daylight comes out, these undead are smart enough to see their salvation when they have it, and hold their door above their head, shielding them and any zombies next to them from the sun temporarily.

The mob obviously can’t do two things at once, so if it is attacked by a player and tries to defend itself, it will immediately start burning.

The idea was really warmly welcomed by the community, and among the numerous comments, there are many statements from which you can learn that quite a few players would like such a zombie ability to actually make its way to Minecraft.
