Wild Rift’s Close Friends – should this system be in League of Legends?

League of Legends

A system in Wild Rift that should be in LoL.

In the mobile version of League of Legends, a new system was released at the end of 2021 that rewards players for interacting with others and playing together. Additionally, we can assign interesting titles to our friends.

While this looks like another insignificant element that would only make playing together more interesting, it can also be great for fans of the classic Summoner’s Rift.

Close friends

League of Legends players fall into two types of people. Those who have a lot of friends placed in different folders and those who prefer to have only loved ones on hand and do not create folders. Wild Rift, at the end of 2021, featured an interesting reward system for playing together.

Between the Party Finder menu and the ability to add friends in the post-game lobby, Wild Rift makes buddying-up as easy as Honeyfruit pie. But what if you want to take things to the next level? Close Friends is a new system that rewards you for playing and interacting with others, making the time you spend with your bestest buds even better!

Establishing a bond in the game is not so simple. First, we have to play together and earn Friend Points.

Once you’ve gained 100 Friendship Points (FP), you can offer your Close Friendship to players from your Friend List or the Close Friends tab in your profile. If you use the second option, you’ll also be able to see how much FP you have with others.

Also like in real life, you can only maintain so many Close Friendships at a time. Your list caps out at 20, so don’t go throwing those affections around willy-nilly!

Additionally, after becoming close friends, we can assign a distinguishing title to each other:

  • Perfect Partners (Limited to 1 friend!)
  • The Might of Family
  • Inseparable Allies
  • Best Buddies

In addition to this little accessory, our friendship can be shown to others. Additionally, we share the acquired heroes with a friend.

Once your level is high enough, you can display your friendship status to the world! Whenever you play with a Lv. 2 Close Friend, your status as besties is proudly displayed for all to see in the pre-game loading screen; at Lv. 3, that status extends all the way to the spawning platform! Check out the table below for more info.

There are also heart series, where we are rewarded with hearts for playing 10 games with a friend a week and memories of friendship – axis of memories.

This addition seems really interesting, especially if we play League of Legends a lot with someone and want to show it to others. However, the problem appears on rankeds, where we would show opponents that our duo is this particular person.

Will Riot bring this to LoL? There is a good chance for this, but it probably won’t happen soon. Perhaps it will be included in the new honor system that has not been talked about a lot recently.
