The LoL community regrets that this skin theme is not continued anymore. Opportunity is looming again
One of the players touched on the topic of winter skins that have not appeared in League of Legends for years.
In LoL, apart from skins from a specific universe, such as Star Guardian or PROJECT, there are many themes related to real events. A good example can be skins related to the Chinese New Year or Valentine’s Day. The game also celebrates Halloween and the day of jokes, i.e. April Fool’s Day.
Years ago, Riot also released Easter skins (eg Bunny Fizz) and, of course, Christmas skins, both related to Santa Claus and elves, as well as simply winter and snow.
Unfortunately, the Winter Wonder series has not been continued for years. A lot of players really miss it and don’t understand why Riot doesn’t pursue this theme.
No Winter Wonder skins
User with the nickname yukine95 mentioned the topic of winter skins from League of Legends. Admittedly, there are still a few months until Christmas, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about the old winter events that are well remembered by players around the world.
Unfortunately, for some reason, Riot gave up on creating more Christmas skins. The winter map, which gave the games a unique atmosphere, also did not come back.
We still have New Year’s skins, St. Valentine skins, Halloween skins and even April Fools skins. Why can’t we have Christmas/Winter themes skins anymore?
Last time we got Winter/Snow Day/Winter Wonder etc. was in December 2018. Riot’s official reason for not doing them anymore is that they poorly sold in that year. But let’s be honest: they choose a bunch of champions that were kinda unpopular (Mundo, Twitch), and so didnt sell.
If they would insert an Ahri, a Lux, or a Kai’Sa i’m sure they will carry over the sales.
It is worth mentioning that fan skins concepts for Lux or Ahri have been created many times and many of them look really brilliant. There were also lovely designs of Reindeer Lillia or Christmas Amumu.
I just miss the Christmas atmosphere these skins and the winter map created. My family is not very keen on doing celebrations during Christmas and New Year, so my only source of the festivity wes in LoL.
So i really hope they gives another chance to Christmas as a moment to celebrate it in League of Legends.
The theme of Christmas and winter skins came back many times. The community still misses the snowy Summoner’s Rift or the Legend of the Poro King mode. Some hope that Riot will come back to the Winter Wonder series. Unfortunately, it is not known if there is a chance for it this year.
