Sona from League of Legends will receive the VFX update. How does the refreshed heroine look like?

Sona will receive brand new animations and sound effects for her skills.

The creators of League of Legends regularly refresh older heroes so that they do not differ graphically from the rest of the characters. It’s not always a full rework, sometimes it’s enough to refresh the skill effects and accompanying sounds. A minor update of this type is called VFX.

About a month ago, Varus was updated and before him, Syndra received the VFX. Now, in January 2022, it is time for Sona.

The VFX of Sona from League of Legends

Sona is the heroine who got to Summoner’s Rift on September 20, 2010. The year 2021 was very fruitful for her, because not only did she receive a mini rework, but also got a new skin and a spot at the Pentakill III: Lost Chapter concert. The interest in Sona grew and the character gained many new fans.

At the beginning of 2022, the developers decided that the heroine would receive an update to the animations and sound effects of her skills.

Similar to the previous VFX updates we’ve made in the past, we’re working on updates to the Visual Effects of champions whose spell effects are in need of some love. Our aim is to get their VFXs to current League standards and improve gameplay clarity.

Just like all the previous ones, and since these are smaller updates geared toward sprucing up some of the oldest members of the roster, they aren’t in the same prioritization conversation as to how we decide who gets a VGU: they do not affect any other timeline, and are simply dev passion projects. As usual, the more recent the skins are, the less changes they are getting.

What exactly will be changed for each skin?
