Riot has given up on introducing this highly anticipated feature to LoL. Players are still forced to use additional software

League of Legends

It is hard to say why it has not been introduced yet, despite the fact that this feature has already been unofficially tested many times.

League of Legends is a game that is constantly evolving despite its age. Designers make sure that the gameplay does not bore more experienced players, and at the same time is balanced. Due to the ever-changing gaming industry, players are regularly asking Riot to make further improvements or changes that will make the LoL experience simply better.

Some time ago, you could learn about a feature that would allow players to hide their profiles from both strangers and friends on the list. Fans immediately noticed the many advantages and disadvantages that would flow from this solution. While some were excited to see the new feature rolled out, news eventually died down and Riot failed to respond to it.

What’s next for “private mode”?

Many fans of Riot games are surely aware of the possibility of hiding their nickname, for example in Valorant. Players who do not want their nicknames to be seen by everyone can simply check the option to hide them.

After the option to make a profile private appeared on LoL’s testing servers, many fans were really happy (Riot will allow you to set your League of Legends profile to private mode. What will be possible to hide from others?).

It’s been a long time since this feature was introduced. It also disappeared from the PBE server. From time to time, fans remind the creators that the ability to hide the profile is needed in the game, and the players share further reasons that would persuade the creators to resume work.

My league friends list is kind of large and includes duos/ friends and even some colleagues from work who play the game. Sometimes i don’t want to play with them or I don’t want them to know I am ingame without deleting them from my friends list. It gets annoying when someone asks you to play and each time you have to find an excuse to explain why you cannot join or a colleague see that I am playing late at night etc..

It would be just easier if you could disable the online status just like in social media apps.

Today, players have no way of managing their status other than simply downloading software from third parties. The most popular is “Deceive”. It is a simple tool that was developed many years ago. It blocks access to Riot’s chat servers. This allows you to actually pretend we’re not there. The program is “tolerated” by Riot at this point, but that could change at any time.

And that’s the worst part of it. People use it en masse anyway and they have to bear in mind that their account may simply be banned at some point. As if on Discord, the developers said years ago that there would be no bans, but as we know, it can always change when it comes to Riot.

A Reddit user with the nickname alphagusta writes about a nuisance friend who he does not want to remove from his friends list.

I’ve got this guy on my list I know IRL who added me once and every single time I log in I get messages asking to play but he is just so insuferable, I just want him to see that I’m not online and I cant remove him because he’s the type to blow up and cause a scene.

At the moment, it is not known whether Riot ultimately plans to introduce the private profile function. Many fans have pointed out both the pros and cons of the feature in the past. Some have cited situations where they have been insulted for how many mastery points they have on certain characters, and others said that there will be no way to know if a player is someone who is deliberately losing games before playing a match.
