People who play ranked duos in LoL will have a harder time starting with the 13.4 update. What’s changing?

What changes have the League of Legends developers envisioned for players who play duo?

The creators of League of Legends some time ago released a video in which the two Rioters gave a lot of information about the upcoming plans for the game. In the comments, the creators also talked about ranked games – rank climbing is now supposed to go more smoothly with an increased average number of league points awarded and received.

It turns out that the developers have prepared more changes, and one of them will affect players who join the queue in duos. What improvements will come to LoL?

What will change in the rankeds?

The 2023 ranking season stands out from previous years because, in the midst of players’ struggles, their rank will be reset. Fans will therefore have half the time to earn the coveted division. To assist them a bit in this goal, League of Legends developers have decided to speed up the rank climb by increasing the average number of league points awarded and received.

Ranked progression at the beginning of a season starts out strong, but as it progresses it can become more difficult to see movement in your rank. We want to make it easier to move both up and down in rank so that your ranked journey is more eventful overall.

Right now moving your rank can feel like pushing a boulder up a hill, so our goal is that if you have a solid session you’ll get to see your rank increase. Ranked hasn’t had large changes in a while now, so as usual, we’re open to your feedback and may make further changes down the road.

The developers also pointed out that duos usually have a slightly greater advantage over players who join the queue alone. So the Rioters are making changes to level the playing field between the two types of people.

A duo in a match has more of an advantage over the solo players in their match than they should right now, so we’re making a change which should result in them being put in games with higher skilled players on both sides. We’ll continue to monitor and may nudge this value over the next few patches.

At this point, it is difficult to assess exactly what the discrepancy in divisions will look like between players who play alone and those who joined the queue with a friend.
