New “OP” mythical item, Heartsteel, will be nerfed in LoL, but there is a small catch

Players think one of the mythics is OP. Riot has decided to nerf it, but not the way it should’ve been.

In the 2023 pre-season, League of Legends trembled with not necessarily well-balanced novelties. We’re mainly talking about items, including some mythical ones, like the infamous Heartsteel.

Considered one of the strongest by the community, it will now be weakened. However, the nerf will not hit Summoner’s Rift. It is only scheduled for ARAMs, which has further exacerbated players’ frustration.

Mythic Heartsteel nerf

Heartsteal is a great item for tanking. It allows you to inflict damage on your opponents and thus increase your HP bar. In addition, it stacks 1% HP from legendary items. In short: the later the phase of the game, the more HP its owner has.

Many people believe that the values are exaggerated and that characters with Heartsteel are practically impossible to eliminate. Riot Games said that indeed the problem exists, but only in ARAM mode. It does not apply to matches on Summoner’s Rift, where it is fairly balanced. So changes have been made:

Permanent HP increase: 10% of damage dealt >>> 5% of damage dealt.

In another post, the developer added that if they notice an increased impact on the meta, they will react then. At this point, the item is too strong only on ARAMs, as confirmed by players of this mode.

So players are left to wait for nerfs or get used to how it works and find a counter.
