LoL: Revised hardware requirements. League of Legends with problems on Windows 11

What are the minimum and recommended hardware configurations for the most popular game from Riot Games?

League of Legends has been on the market since 2009. For more than a decade, Riot has been constantly developing its most popular title, making it change significantly over the years.

The game has been improved and offers more and more content, and the developers want to make the new features and updates profitable, hence they drop support for older systems from time to time. What are the current minimum hardware requirements for LoL?

Hardware requirements for PC and MAC

Not optimized for Windows 11

At this time, League of Legends is not optimized to run on Windows 11. Players using Windows 11 will experience a variety of related issues without known solutions.

Below, you’ll find the minimum system requirements for running League of Legends on PCs and Macs. If your setup meets only the minimum requirements, you may still see performance issues. Please note that we only support x86 Macs.

SUPPORT FOR 32-BIT VERSIONS OF THE WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM WILL END

Support for 32-bit Windows OS will be deprecated on April 4, 2023. After this date a 64-bit version of Windows will be required to play League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics.

What does this mean?

Well for those who are already on 64-bit operating systems and hardware (which is 99.9% of players) you won’t notice a difference when we stop supporting 32-bit and you won’t need to do anything. However, for those that are playing on a 32-bit operating system, starting in 13.7 you’ll start to get a message in the client telling you that the client may stop working in the future for you. We’re giving some time to message this heads up before we fully stop supporting 32-bit operating systems both in the patch notes and in the launcher, but in the future you’ll need to be playing on 64-bit capable hardware, and 64-bit operating systems in order to keep playing League.

Why is the League team doing this?

As with other decisions we’ve made in the past like deprecating XP and Vista, continuing to release new content while maintaining older hardware requires significant investment both from a development and a testing standpoint. By removing some of these barriers, we can continue to push the boundaries of new features while delivering engaging player experiences. While we don’t have any direct targeted improvements to communicate to you just yet regarding this migration, it will be something that leads into our continued investments in the future of League.

Mac System requirements

KNOWN ISSUE: MACOS 10.15

Players installing League of Legends on MacOS 10.15 for the first time are experiencing critical issues, while players who installed League on MacOS 10.14 and later upgraded to 10.15 are not. Unfortunately, if you’re having problems on MacOS 10.15, at this time the only known fix is to roll back your OS to version 10.14 and reinstall. We apologize for the inconvenience.
