LoL players would like Riot to make more maps permanent. Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss aren’t enough?

The League of Legends community is lamenting that the game’s developers are not adding any new maps that are not a rotating mode.

Currently, there are two maps in the game that can be played throughout the year. A map related to the Nexus Blitz mode also returns from time to time. In previous years, Riot decided to remove Twisted Treeline (2019), and before that Crystal Scar was also withdrawn from LoL (2016).

Many players to this day can’t get over the fact that the developers removed the aforementioned maps and didn’t introduce anything in their place. For a couple of years now, the community has to be content with only Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss. According to some, such a situation is really ridiculous, taking into account the fact that League of Legends is one of the most popular games in the world, and fans, after all, have been asking Riot for a long time to add something new, especially for people who do not like to play normals and ranked.

More maps in League of Legends

One Reddit user raised the topic of the maps available in the game. In his opinion, two – Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss – are far too few and Riot should do something about it.

I know they want Summoner’s Rift to be the most popular map because of pro play, but having ARAM as the only other available map is just disappointing and embarrassing

I’ve been playing the game since late 2013 and I always enjoyed having a variety of maps (game modes) to pick from, then one by one they got removed and all we have left are Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss, the latter not having the option to pick your champion. So there is only 1 map where you have official matchmaking and you’re allowed to pick your champion. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

I would love to have a map that allows me to pick my champion while actually being queued up (no, custom lobbies don’t count, sorry), that ISN’T Summoner’s Rift, which I associate with Ranked and stress. Give us a damn alternative already. It’s been years since they removed Twisted Treeline.

I don’t care how unpopular the other maps are. You SHOULD have multiple options AT ALL TIMES. There needs to be variety, otherwise people just get sick and tired of the game, because it’s the same thing every day.

I think that’s why people don’t really differentiate between Normals and Ranked. It’s the same map and they have nowhere else to go if they want the freedom of choosing their champions. It’s either Summoner’s Rift or you get a random champ in ARAM.

And Riot saying things like “well, the maintenance costs outweigh the niche group of people who used the map on a daily basis” is just such a wrong way of going about it. “Balance issues” is another good excuse they used. It’s all bullshit. If you can’t hire more people to maintain niche game modes so people can have options, then what the hell are you even doing as a company to appeal to your player base. You know… the people who pay your salaries?

Many LoL fans agreed with the above opinion. Players lament the fact that no new map has appeared for years, which would stay in the client permanently. More than once the developers were asked to do something about it, but as you can see – nothing has changed.
