Fan anime opening from League of Legends. Should there be a series in this style?
One of the LoL fans edited a video he called “League of Legends anime opening”. The community is thrilled.
The game from Riot Games has an incredibly extensive world and story. The universe of Runeterra is vast, and as you travel through landmark cities, you will meet many colorful heroes. Some of them appeared only in the stories, so the creators have a huge field to show off when it comes to creating new series in the Arcane style.
The lives of the sisters Vi and Jinx, and the city of Piltover and its suburb Zaun, have fared really well. The title turned out to be so successful that it is safe to say that the second half of 2021 belonged to Arcane.
As you might expect – just a few episodes are not enough to satisfy fans. They would like Riot to release more such productions, but not necessarily in the same style. A lot of players suggest that anime from League of Legends would work great.
Anime from League of Legends
A player with the nickname Cheesegrater74 edited a fan video that could be used as an opening anime about League of Legends. The video uses fragments of official clips from Riot, which were created in a style similar to Japanese animations. Among them was, among others “The Path, An Ionian Myth”, the trailer of the Spirit Blossom event from 2020, or “A New Journey”, a movie promoting the 2019 season.
By properly assembling the scenes and adding the right music, the end result is actually reminiscent of an anime. The fan opening theme quickly became popular and just hours after it was published, it garnered over 10,000 positive ratings on Reddit.
Although the video shows excerpts from older League of Legends trailers, many commentators were delighted with the end result. Some said that Riot should have released some anime by now because the game’s lore is basically made for it.
The fact is that you can find a lot of champions in LoL who are inspired by Asian culture. The same is with the skins. Perfect examples are the series Spirit Blossom or Blood Moon, in which the characters wear masks reminiscent of Japanese theater.
While the depiction of the fate of Pilvoter and Zaun suited Arcane’s graphic style, so many people believe that the development of Ionia’s lore should be made in an anime style. There are many possibilities, and Riot has shown more than once that it creates great animations of this type.
It is quite possible that an anime about League of Legends will be made one day. These types of animations are incredibly popular all over the world. The creators are aware of this and it’s probably why they use this style in many trailers (especially related to Ionia).
