Bel’Veth’s graphical changes have appeared on the PBE. Why does Riot’s approach surprise League of Legends players?

Riot announced small fixes for the newest LoL heroine. How does the community feel about this?

Bel’Veth is a character that was revealed some time ago and will soon be in the game. The trailers of the heroine aroused a lot of emotions. It’s not just about the scenes depicted in them, but the fact that it’s the first Void creature released in many years. Fans of this place had to be patient because 4 years have passed since the release of Kai’Sa, and many players do not count her as a Void champion, because as it is commonly known – the girl was not born there, but only went to this place when she was a child.

Back to Bel’Veth – the first videos with her participation somewhat disappointed the players. The community said the image of the ray-shaped monster was cheap and reminiscent of the old graphics from 2010.

The newest character has been changed to slightly improve her appearance. What does she look like now?

Bel’Veth visual changes

Riot Koyuncu, one of the company’s employees who deals with the quality control of the heroes appearing on Summoner’s Rift and is also responsible for ensuring the proper level of the newest character – Bel’Veth – announced that the Void Empress got some changes.

Bel’Veth is now currently enabled and available to play on PBE! She’s super fun to play, and I want to hear your player feedback before she launches in two weeks. We’ve got about a week before we have to lock any proposed changes for her release, so I’ll be monitoring common themes in this thread to share back with the team for possible adjustments.

If you encounter any in-game bugs while playing Bel’Veth or her Battle Boss skin, please let us know by heading over to our Bug Reporting Tool and providing any information on the issue. Providing repro steps or a video clip are incredibly helpful at debugging.

The Rioter announced that the heroine has had an icon modification, which now shows her human head, instead of the monster one. According to the creators, this is to ensure better readability on the minimap.

Additionally, the designers made some changes to the shape and color of the wings in the model of the heroine. All modifications are based on community feedback.

It would seem that everything is perfect – the developers listen to the players, introduce changes and read the opinions of the fans of the title. Unfortunately, according to some, Riot’s behavior is not good at all.

There were many posts of this type on social media:

Players argue that replacing an in-game icon is not a very good idea, as it was initially claimed that the human face was merely an artificial decoy for victims. The actual “head” of Bel’Veth was supposed to be a bit lower, which can be clearly seen in the trailer for this character. Despite this, Riot focuses on the human elements of the model, which players do not like. Some even say that the company simply emphasizes the female elements of the model because those sell much more than monsters and the like.

Another thing was that the creators used a screen from one of the fans to describe the changes. The player did not blame them, although this approach surprised him a bit.

It’s kinda wild to see Riot use one of my screenshots to showcase a change, not that I really mind, rather than post one of their owns, since I figured they be able to show a change first from their internal dev server.
