LoL developers have released a short preview of a redesigned blind pick that will appear to celebrate April Fool’s Day.
March is coming to an end, so everyone is starting to think about the next month, which opens with the commonly known day of pranks, April Fool’s Day. The first day of April is celebrated in many well-known titles, as it is the perfect opportunity to release funny skins and somewhat frivolous add-ons or modes.
In League of Legends, a themed event has been held on the occasion for years, as well as there are a series of skins that are associated with April Fools’ Day. The most popular of these is, of course, the universe of cats and dogs. This year there will be more skins with this theme (see: Presentation of the new skins from the Cats vs Dogs series from League of Legends – Nidalee, Yuumi, Kled and Kindred).
As some people probably remember, some time ago Riot mentioned something about a secret mode to celebrate April 1. Not much was known, other than that there was to be a poro. Players were guessing that it would be some new version of Poro King, but today it is known that it was about something else. Here is the official announcement of the redesigned blind pick.
A mode to celebrate April 1 in League of Legends
The fact that Riot is preparing something for April Fools’ Day has been known for some time. Various leaks talked about the mysterious mode, and then the developers themselves mentioned it in the description of the update. That description read as follows:
We are working on several updates that will improve the blind pick mode. These changes will go into effect late at night on March 31 local time. They will be so good that you will not refrain from expressing your appreciation. Even the Poro will be jumping with joy. Check out the blind pick between April 1 and 3 of your local time!
As you can see, the announcement was heavily mysterious and didn’t reveal much. But after the publication of the latest video on the official League of Legends profile, you can see that the developers literally added Poro on Summoner’s Rift. And that’s not all.
You can see from the video that there will be a lot of absurd things going on. Will this form of entertainment appeal to the community? It’s hard to judge. However, from Riot’s announcement, it seems that the mode will not be available for too long, so there will also be no time to get particularly bored with it.
