A change from patch 13.7 that has particularly caught the attention of LoL players

League of Legends

The fix of the next patch that a large number of players are talking about. What impact can it have on the meta?

In League of Legends season 13, like practically every season that has been released by Riot, a lot has changed. Many champions have been weakened, strengthened or simply changed, and quite a few have found their moment of dominance whether on Summoner’s Rift or on Howling Abyss.

An update will soon be released on the servers for one of the most important tournaments of the League season – MSI 2023. Update 13.7 will be released on the servers on April 6, but quite a few fans are already wondering not only about the impact of the changes on the upcoming tournament but also the current meta. The community’s attention in particular has been drawn to a single fix.

Grievous Wound changes

A change in patch 13.7 that is relatively little talked about, but has drawn the attention of quite a few fans. It’s about grievous wounds, which until now worked in such a way that if the target had a shield, and the damage inflicted by someone with grievous wounds didn’t take away their HP, the effect wasn’t applied. Patch 13.7, however, introduces a fix to change this.

Oblivion Orb, Morellonomicon, Chemtech Putrifier, Executioner’s Calling, Mortal Reminder, and Chempunk Chainsword will now apply Grievous Wounds to targets, even if they’re shielded. The only exception to this is if the target is invulnerable.

The change is being commented on by players, and some of them are wondering why it didn’t look that way from the beginning. In particular, it will affect ADCs, who will now have to think a bit more when facing tanks or diving into team fights.

ADC, combined with support that can shield it from enemy damage, becomes a really important factor for a team that has a significant impact on the outcome of the game. The upcoming patch may affect the strength of ADCs in tank battles, as applying Grievous Wounds to them will be much easier.

Although the change seems to be pretty big on paper, some pros, such as Doublelift, don’t think it’s something that will significantly affect the meta. He says that most players will not suddenly stop fighting because they will notice that they have run out of shields, so the debuff, one way or another, would be imposed on them.

At this point, it’s difficult to determine exactly what patch 13.7 will look like in terms of the meta, as community opinions are divided. Some think the patch is really big, while others think it won’t have much of an impact on what happens in League of Legends.
