A bug in League of Legends forced the developers to roll back an entire update. What does Riot write?

Problems with the latest patch released by Riot Games. What’s going on and what are the developers writing about the problems?

League of Legends developers have had a lot of problems on their hands lately. It started with a disastrous start to the season related to the trailer, which really disappointed players, and then an attack on the studio, as a result of which the game’s source code and anti-cheat were stolen. The complications don’t end, as is proven by the information about the game that appears online from time to time. This time the problem turned out to be a bug, which made the developers forced to undo all the fixes that were released in the last update.

Problems with the latest patch

Surely the vast majority of LoL players are aware that the 13.2 update did not hit the live servers as scheduled. This happened because the attack on the studio took its toll on the fixes that the game’s developers were working on at the time. Quite a few of the changes were carried over to the next patch, and the necessary adjustments to affect balance appeared in 13.1b (Rioter on the next League of Legends update in wake of a recent attack).

Update 13.1b appeared on the day patch 13.2 was due to be released – January 25. Despite the fact that the fixes have been on the server for quite some time, and the developers have shared details of the next patch – 13.3 – with fans, it turns out that the current update contained a serious bug that forced the developers to roll back all changes from the previous patch.

Heads up, due to a bug patch 13.1B has been temporarily rolled back. We are currently working on a solution and expect this to be resolved within the next few hours. Ranked queues have been disabled in the meantime. Thank you for your patience.

Many players were in the ranking queue when the problem began to show its effects. Several players mentioned that the stats of their items did not look as they should. It has also been confirmed that the prevention of failures in the ranking queue has been activated. However, this did not please those who managed to win the game at that point.

Many commenters are wondering how it was possible that the entire patch had to be rolled back for several hours to correct the bug. Some suspect that this is related to hackers obtaining the game’s source code, which may have given them access to the servers. At this point, the developers have said nothing more, and league point play continues to be disabled. As promised to improve communication with fans, the designers are likely to publish a post with more detailed explanations.
