Fortnite players look at Overwatch 2 and thank Epic for not ripping them off

Fortnite players are looking at Overwatch 2 and wondering why other games have such a big problem with monetization.

Overwatch 2 moved to a free2Play model, adding a battle pass to the game, among other things. However, it quickly became clear that this was not the best idea. Mainly because the prices in Overwatch 2 are very high.

We wrote about how many people are now complaining about the business model, and even want a return to the old system with crates. Time can no longer turn back, Blizzard certainly won’t back down from the current model, it can only tweak it now.

Fortnite vs. Overwatch 2

If you haven’t completely played Overwatch 2 then you need to know this much: players are very happy that Fortnite is being taken care of by Epic and not Activision Blizzard.

Why? All it takes is a simple comparison used by one Twitter user. The $26 in Overwatch 2 is:

  • a skin,
  • a weapon pendant,
  • play presentation,
  • portrait,
  • a name card.

For $20 in Fortnite, you’ll get this entire set, not to mention that Goku has 4 more styles.

It’s hard to defend Blizzard here, which wants to squeeze as much as possible out of Overwatch, resulting in prices that are inadequate for the items offered.
