A new event in Overwatch 2 has dashed players’ hopes. One skin costing as much as Overwatch 1

Even the most loyal players indicate that something is wrong here. Optimistic YouTubers had stated that Overwatch 2 monetization would not be aggressive. Well…

Overwatch 2 may have plenty of features on the horizon, it may tempt with an upcoming PvE mode and more mechanics, characters, modes. All this, however, is fading under the onslaught of massive complaints after the Halloween launch.

There are a whole bunch of posts on Reddit, Twitter complaining and pointing out to Blizzard not only the burning servers, but also the cost of cosmetic items and the change in monetization approach. The most popular meme at the moment is the one with Jeff Kaplan:

Where should we start…

There is always something to justify Blizzard’s actions, and grumbling about the studio is very trendy these days, while in this case, it is genuinely difficult to find any positive voices about Halloween.

A ray of hope is the new mode, which meets the expectations of the community. It’s spooky, there are cool easter eggs, there’s definitely more going on than in recent years. This is definitely on the big plus side. You can see that the artists and people responsible for OW2 in terms of animation, maps, graphics, skin quality still have a heart for it.

The problem arises when you look at cosmetic items. Yes, you don’t need to buy them to play, while players are more concerned with comparing OW1 and OW2 in terms of payments, prices, etc.

It’s hard to defend the fact that one skin costs close to as much as Overwatch 1, and on promotions, it’s even more.

Players were also struck by discounts of literally absurd values.

There were also a lot of strange decisions in all this, such as with the skin to Kiriko.

There are also comparisons, such as this one:

Except that here someone took quite a flight. After all, it should be added that Blizzard gives free skins and cosmetic items as part of Twitch drops.

Players can see that great people with passion and heart are still working on Overwatch. However, all this is somehow destroyed by the strong practice of making as much money as possible.
