PvE in Overwatch 2 canceled. There will be no hero mission or skill tree

Blizzard has made an important and arguably very difficult decision to change its plans. PvE elements will appear in Overwatch 2, but not in the form that was originally announced.

A special stream was held today, where the developers announced their plans. And so, players learned perhaps the worst information they could. It’s no joke, which is a shame.

It turns out that Blizzard does not plan to deliver the idea that was originally created. Instead, the PvE elements will be in regular Overwatch 2 i.e. without an additional, separate mode. This is a blow that probably no one expected. After all, this is what made the decision to create “two” in the first place. This is what made the PvP mode suffer so much from lack of content for years.

The developers shared the information about the cancellation of their plans during the official stream. PvE will be delivered, but in a different form than expected. There will be no separate mode, no hero stories, and no talent trees.

This is confirmed by various interviews just published.

So what should we expect? According to what is currently known, PvE will be proven in the form of special mission packs. This means, in fact, cutting out what players have been hoping for so much.

The Roadmap was also revealed, while at this point it’s not even comforting anymore. There are “Story Missions” here, and that’s all you have to hope for when it comes to PvE mode.

The issue with Overwatch 2 is getting very complicated. What so many people have been waiting for simply won’t happen. The developers do have some plans, but it sounds for the time being very weak compared to what was announced a few years ago.
