China, a mass of people streaming on the streets. Why is this so clever?
At first glance, this kind of sight is incredibly frightening. Hundreds of people streaming on the street. Many people compare it to Cyberpunk and the future, where everyone is connected to the network in some way.
Is it really that scary? Well, China has long shown that there, some ideas are just being realized much earlier, and that’s the case here, too.
What is it and what is the point of it?
These people are not crazy at all, they are in some ways smarter than everyone else. The streamer market in China is very tight, and streaming platforms allow location-based searches.
Streamers take to the streets in these wealthier neighborhoods and just turn on a live stream. Often, these are really talented people – you won’t see the standard “booba” streamers.
Most of them are involved in singing or artistic performances. It looks pretty creepy, but it’s a good way of getting those wealthier audiences who are more likely to send donations.
In most countries this is very strange, but in China it has become something normal. It is also not the case that only women hunt for donations in this way. Men also occupy a big chunk of this market.
