How long does it take hackers to crack your password? How many characters and which ones are best to use?

Passwords are one of the most important things these days. So it is worth being aware of what the breaking time looks like.

There are passwords that are cracked instantly. In total, up to 6 different characters, the password is broken literally right away. Hackers don’t even need 10 seconds to crack such a password. It doesn’t matter whether you set 6 special characters or 6 letters forming a meaningful word – the breaking time will be the same.

The fun starts with 7 characters, although it still takes a few seconds to crack such a password. Over 6 hours, passwords with 7 special characters, uppercase, lowercase letters, and symbols are cracked.

What’s the best password?

The number of characters is the most important here. The more, the better. At some point, however, it makes no sense to add more of them. The most optimal number is 12 different characters. This makes it take a good 6 years to crack a password, even consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters, without special characters.

The further you go, the longer the password cracking time is. 13 characters equals 332 years, without using special characters. Just add a @ somewhere and it extends to 3,000 years. This is definitely enough password to sleep peacefully.
