Discord has just been banned there. Virtus.Pro may have an unusual communication problem

Discord has just become a banned program in one of the countries that has been incredibly talked about lately.

Discord is increasingly being used as the main way to communicate. Not surprisingly, it has just been banned along with programs such as:

  • Microsoft Teams;
  • Skype for Business;
  • Snapchat;
  • Telegram;
  • Threema;
  • Viber;
  • WhatsApp;
  • WeChat.

The issue is strictly about Russia. If you don’t have friends there, nothing will change for you. However, it will be interesting to see how this will affect Russian players.

Discord banned in Russia

It is known that Discord is used by esports organizations that are officially registered in Russia. For example, Virtus.Pro. This is because the ban applies to entire entities, not just specific organizations or individuals.

For most people living in Russia, this probably won’t be a big problem, but for companies it already is.
