After 5 years of active development, Twitch has just made the decision to close its application
After just over 5 years, Twitch has decided to end support for the desktop application.
Five years ago, Amazon’s platform released a beta version of the Twitch app, which allowed viewers from all over the world to watch the broadcast and interact with streamers.
In addition, it gave users access to the Prime Rewards game library and was used to display advertisements. Now the website has decided to end its support and called for the use of the browser.
Why did Twitch make this decision?
As you can read in a short Twitch announcement, the platform management made such a decision to be able to invest more funds in new ways of communication between streamers and their viewers. TTV also assures that the move was not made hastily, but was thought through and will bring positive results.
The desktop application is due to shut down on April 30, so you should get used to using the browser by then. It is also worth remembering to uninstall it so that it does not take up disk space.
