EA is preparing very professionally for the release of its biggest creation on the Free to Play model.
For more than a month now, the entire gaming world has known that The Sims 4, the world’s most popular simulation game, is moving to a free-to-play model. The title will be free to download on Origin forever.
We’re excited to continue to welcome in more players than ever to create new stories, and explore without boundaries. The Sims has always been about celebrating new ways to play and offers so many possibilities to discover. Beginning on October 18, 2022, The Sims™ 4 base game will be available to all new players to download for free* on PC via EA app or Origin™, Mac® via Origin, Steam®, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One systems.

For this reason, EA is taking big steps to prepare for the big event. However, for some time now gamers have been speculating that during the official livestream on YouTube and Twitch – “Behind the Sims Summit” – the developers are going to announce something else. Many gamers are hoping that the time will eventually come for The Sims 5 to be announced, according to a number of clues found recently.
The Sims Summit is scheduled to take place today at 1 p.m. ET, with developers from around the world announcing their guest appearances and segments to take place at the event. According to the media, dancers, player interviews and professional hosts are just some of the things we will be able to watch tonight.
Interestingly, it will be Phoebe Robinson, an American comedian best known to the New York Times, who will host the entire event on livestream, as she has famously said on her social media.
Phoebe herself guarantees that there will be a lot of interesting elements on the stream, as well as the announcements that Simmers have been waiting for so much for several weeks. It is likely that all doubts of players will already be resolved, as well as we will learn brand new things that EA has prepared for the occasion.
