The creators of The Sims 4 once again show their support for the LGBT community. New in-game pronoun system

On yesterday’s stream, players could learn some interesting things. This one is by far the most interesting.

Yesterday, on January 18, 2022, another official stream from the Inside Maxis series took place, in which the developers share with The Sims community all the news and projects they are working on and that may soon appear in the game.

Yesterday, the developers revealed their new idea, which may soon be implemented in the game. Interestingly, the new feature in The Sims 4 is expected to largely help the LGBT community. What will it be?

A new system of personal pronouns

During yesterday’s Inside Maxis Stream, SimGuruDuck, along with other developers and partners at It Gets Better, shared their current progress in adding personal pronouns to The Sims 4, which you can customize. The developers revealed some important screenshots from the game, where some changes can be noticed.

The programmer who presents the whole idea to us, first of all, noticed the top left corner, in which there is a column with the name and surname of our Sim. Until now, we could read “Hello, I am…”. Now, however, that will change to:

Hello, I am… and my pronouns are…

After clicking the column with the name and surname of our Sim, they will expand as always and we will be able to complete the data with the pronouns they will use. These will of course be standard she/her and he/his, as well as gender-neutral it/its.

This, of course, is not all. The creators know very well that these pronouns can still be strongly defined and limited, so in addition to the ready-made ones, there is also an option where you can enter the pronouns that our Sims are to use.

You will then be able to enter them manually exactly as in the screenshot below.

The developers announced that this is only the first version of the feature they are working on, so we will have to wait for the update introducing it.

The creators are well aware that the game is translated into 18 different languages, so initially, the update introducing the new pronoun system will be available in the English version of The Sims 4. We will have to wait patiently for the rest of the language versions until the teams complete the logistics of translating personal pronouns for specific languages.
