Legacy Challenge as an official mode in The Sims 4? Players propose an idea for a new package

The legacy challenge is really popular. Why haven’t the developers officially added it to the game yet?

As you know, Legacy Challenge is one of the most popular challenges among the entire series of The Sims, if not the most popular. It consists in creating a 10-generation family while adhering to a few important rules.

Players wonder why the creators of The Sims did not make it an official challenge in the game. The community believes that this is wasted potential, so they make their own suggestions for a new gameplay pack or a standalone expansion pack.

Legacy Challenge as an official challenge in The Sims 4

Legacy Challenge is one of the most popular challenges in The Sims, right next to the challenge of decades, 100 kids, no power or not so berry. There is a lot of this type of challenges, and if that was not enough, players keep coming up with new ones.

All these most popular challenges are now so recognizable that players wonder why The Sims developers will not make them an official part of the game, and not just fan-made fun. For this reason, a very interesting thread on Reddit was created, in which players shared some Legacy challenge ideas that could make their way to the game.

Considering how legacy gameplay has been one of the more popular “challenges” or just gameplay modes for the entirety of the sims franchise, is anyone else surprised that there are no legacy centered packs? I think a game pack would be a really great addition to formalize some of these things we already do.

Other players under the entry started to propose all the options or elements of the game that could enrich The Sims 4. What are the players proposing?

  • an official interaction/ceremony to “appoint the heir”

  • social interactions with extended family – “discuss the family legacy” or “insult family branch” or “gossip about inheritance”

  • designate an official family home – kind of like what MCCC does with ancentral households

  • a new aspiration about being the family leader

  • a social event for family reunions

  • cooking a “family recipe” based on being in a particular mood

  • having some kind of level up system around becoming a powerful legacy family the older your family line is, so a family with 2 generations would have no clout, but a family with 10 generations would all be “ancient lineage” and maybe unlock some cool things around town?

  • a new neighborhood with mansions with some new money vs old money households

The Sims 4 player wanted to learn how to build well, so he took up the 30-day challenge

  • Photo studios where official family portraits or photo sessions could be made.
  • Each generation unlocks newer and newer technologies. It looks silly when a 1st generation family uses the same devices as an 8th-generation family.
  • Formal graveyards where you could buy a place for the tombstones of Sims that have passed away. Shared family places.
  • A special system of generational traits, thanks to which successor Sims could inherit bounty or common traits, or have similar preferences to their parents. The reward features could have several tiers that would have to be developed to the next tier in the next generations.

The Sims 4 players have a lot of interesting ideas. Most of the proposals are so extensive and interesting that they could easily be implemented into the game now. Creating a separate Legacy challenge pack would be a really good idea, and looking at how popular and loved this challenge is among The Sims community, a separate DLC would certainly be warmly welcomed.
