This Pokemon GO player has been doing something weird for 3 years. There can be many more such people

Pokemon Go

The Pokemon GO community has noticed a problem – players with a lot of multi-accounts who do an annoying thing.

Pokemon GO is a game that, in theory, was to encourage people to be physically active, explore the area and meet other fans of the series about pocket creatures in the real world. The assumptions of the title from Niantic studio were very good, and the game itself turned out to be a huge hit on a global scale.

Players loved the title, where you could catch your favorite Pokemon, fight other players, expand your Pokedex collection, and keep fit thanks to long walks or cycling.

The Pokemon GO community is usually thought to be a fairly nice group of people. There is no built-in chat in the game, so there is no toxicity issue either. In theory, people can’t hurt each other because catching creatures by one trainer does not affect what the other trainer sees on the map. The only form of fighting between players is fighting for Gyms and participating in the GO Battle League.

As is well known, Gym can be taken over by one of three teams – Valor, Mystic, and Instinct. An account can be assigned to only one of them (this can be changed after purchasing the appropriate item, but most players do not decide to change it). If a given gym is taken over by players from the Valor team, those from Mystic can fight their Pokemon and then put their own.

Some fans decided to make multiple accounts that belong to different teams to irritate others. What exactly are they doing?

Annoying multi-accounts in Pokemon GO

One player raised the topic of a strange practice that is taking place in many cities around the world. As he mentioned – there is a man in his area who has 6 accounts, 2 in each team, and he takes over Gyms in the whole area for their help.

There’s a guy in my neighborhood spoofing every single gym. Nobody can keep their mons in for more than a few minutes it’s like he’s online 24/7 at every location. This has been happening for 3 years pls help? He has 6 accounts in all 3 factions – how do I even report this?

As you might expect, the mystery player never places the creatures in the already acquired Gym (even if there is an empty slot). He takes it down with an account from the opposite team and leaves only his own Pokemon there.

It’s hard to say why someone is doing something like this. Perhaps it is a form of trolling that does nothing more than irritate other people. But playing pranks for so long seems utterly pointless.

Some believe that there is a larger group behind these types of accounts because it seems strange that one person is online virtually 24/7 and can move very quickly.

This type of situation does not happen for the first time. Similar stories can also be found in the comments under the cited entry. Players often come across numerous multi-accounts that behave in an incredibly irritating way. It is not known who is the record holder for the number of accounts created, but in the past, there was an article about a player who had as many as 18 of them – This Pokemon GO player did something really weird. He created 18 accounts to repeat certain activities.

The community encourages reporting these types of accounts. Some trainers say that the reports do work, and after numerous reports have been sent, some of the suspicious accounts have never taken over Gyms again.

It’s hard to say if Niantic will do anything about it. Just having different accounts is not forbidden, although it is quite possible that suspicious players also used third-party programs that changed their location, which in turn facilitated “quick movement” between Gyms and taking them over almost immediately.
