Pokemon GO players are dissatisfied with the announced changes to the Community Days. Why?

The Pokemon GO community commented on the latest changes to the Community Day system.

Community Days is a monthly event that always focuses on a specific Pokemon (with some exceptions, e.g. the last Community Day of the year which is a summary of all months). This type of event is associated with the chance to catch a large number of shiny specimens, collect a huge amount of candies, or simply earn experience points, Stardust, and additional rewards from themed quests.

It’s fair to say that Community Day is something most players are waiting for. Fans are curious to see who will be the heroes of the next Community Day, and there’s always a lot of interest in revealing it.

Changes to Community Day events

Yesterday, Niantic revealed who the April Community Day will be associated with. When describing attractions and bonuses, the creators also mentioned that this type of event will be changed. The announcement on this topic caught the attention of players even more than who will be the hero of the April event.

It is worth recalling the official message from Niantic:

We also wanted to take a moment to discuss some changes to the Community Day format we’ll be testing. In 2020, we doubled the length of our Community Day events, extending them from three hours to six. Since then, however, we’ve found that only five percent of our Trainers tend to participate in the event for more than three hours.

One of the biggest pieces of positive feedback that we received after January’s three-hour Community Day Classic was that players and community leaders noticed how much more of the community was out and about during the event. So, for Stufful Community Day, we’re returning to three-hour format. Our hope is that doing so will create even more opportunities for Trainers to play together and connect outside as they’re exploring.

We know that Trainers have enjoyed all of the extra resources that can be collected during longer events, so we’re adding some new and exciting perks to Stufful Community Day to give you the ability to collect just as many resources during gameplay. Check them out below!

It didn’t take long for the first critical comments to appear on the internet. Players started talking about changes, including on Reddit. This is where you can read a lot of negative opinions.

If they want people to go out and meet each other again, then they need to make the game more incentivising. Removing incense spawns, reducing CD hours does not incentivise me to play the game.

Another user commented that the developers were acting “as if they wanted the game to die”. Many players do not understand why some of the recent changes even came into effect. It is worth recalling that after weakening Incense, the community strongly criticized the studio – Incense changes destroyed Community Day in Pokemon GO? The players are furious

YouTuber and streamer Ace Trainer Liam also commented on the matter. On his Twitter account, he wrote:

It is worth mentioning that the announced changes do not mean that the new system will stay in the game forever. It is possible for developers to take notice of critical comments and rework Community Days.

Unfortunately, many Pokemon GO fans have lost hope. They believe that there is no point in hoping for improvement because various unfavorable changes have appeared recently and it is not expected that they will be removed.
