Pokemon GO players called the police because someone wanted to take over their Gym
One of the fans of Pokemon GO experienced a really unpleasant situation.
Pokemon GO is an incredibly popular mobile game that has gathered thousands of fans around the world. The title from Niantic is played by both adults who grew up on the first generation of pocket creatures, and children who got to know Pokemon thanks to their mobile version.
With such a huge base of players, really unpredictable situations can happen. Sometimes fans of the title take gameplay too seriously, which sometimes makes them even aggressive. In the past, there have been several unpleasant situations during which the police had to intervene.
A recent story is also linked to a police call. Fortunately, it was not about a criminal offense, but about stupid jokes and human malice. What exactly happened?
Taking over Gym and calling the police
Gyms are an extremely important element of Pokemon GO. It is there that raids take place, during which you can get many interesting creatures. Gyms also give you the opportunity to collect PokeCoins – currency that can be used to buy items, backpack space, cosmetic items, and more.
No wonder that players are trying to defend the captured Gym. Unfortunately, some people take it too seriously. One of the trainers – darthmaclean – described an unpleasant event he experienced while playing Pokemon GO. It all started innocently as it was about taking over the enemy Gym.
At one point, the police came to the scene. It turned out that the people defending the Gym decided to make a silly joke and called the emergency number claiming that the person fighting their Pokemon was doing something illegal.
So…last night i was fighting a yellow gym. A few people were defending it. They called the cops on me, and then reported my name as offensive. So i have to change my name. People are seriously butthurt nowadays. Did anyone else have something like this happen to them?
The player stated that a group of players who called the emergency number escaped before the officers arrived. Over the phone, an imaginary crime was reported which the player was alleged to have committed.
The author of the post claims that the same people reported his nickname in the game, which he had since opening his account in 2016 – “JesusEh”.
Comments on this topic were divided. Some fans believe that a group of trolls behaved scandalously and it’s hard to believe that someone has thought of something like that. There were also those who focused on the nickname itself, which they felt should be changed as it might offend religious feelings.
The player did not hide his dissatisfaction. He concluded that people nowadays are “butthurt” and are oversensitive about everything.
