There was a serious bug during the LoL LCK Championship. What do the referees and Riot say?

League of Legends

Gamers are dissatisfied with the way Riot deals with bugs in the professional LoL scene.

League of Legends is known for the fact that the gameplay very often does not quite work as it should. There are often bugs in the game that can have a greater or lesser impact on the gameplay. Relatively recently, there was a lot of talk about the problem that affected turrets, and what’s more, before it was eliminated by Riot, it had time to show itself on the professional stage. Turrets dealt lower damage, making diving much less risky.

This time the problem was just as serious and allowed players to escape despite the crowd control effect on the champion, which should prevent the one affected by it from taking action. What exactly happened during the LCK games?

Ahri’s charm broken?

KT Rolster’s shooter Aiming was hit by Ahri’s E during the LCK playoffs. The champion should follow the heroine for a period of time depending on the skill level, which would certainly allow Aphelios to be eliminated. What happened during the match certainly surprised not only the players but also the fans who watched it.

Despite the situation in which Aphelios managed to survive only due to a bug, the referees could not agree to stop the match. All thanks to the rules imposed in advance, which must be followed by the participants of the championship.

Apparently they couldn’t pause because the players are given a list of known bugs. Flash during charm was on the list. So the Ref didn’t let them pause.

Gamers found Riot’s approach really unfair. Many commenters wrote that a bug is a bug and its occurrence should not be justified in any way. One of the players described a situation that could happen in theory.

What if this sh** happened in G5 of Worlds finals, resulting in Ahri’s loss? Would Marc Merill walk on stage and say “ayy lmao we knew this could happen and we specifically denied players pausing and chronobreaking if it does!”

Even though DK won the BO5 game, the victory in a match where the bug in question occurred belonged to KT. It’s hard to say if it was a mistake, but not eliminating the shooter in combat under the Nexus could have made a big difference. Riot did not address this situation, so most likely nothing will change in the terms of the way the devs treat bugs that occur during the championship. And fans are not particularly happy about it.
