Riot explains what will happen to the old Udyr icons. Will they still be available?
It’s time for the 12.16 update. This one introduces a lot of news to the game, including new skins that will be added to the store, including the Prestige edition of Janna. The LoL heroes will get balance changes, and small bugs and glitches will also be corrected.
However, this is not the most important thing for a large part of the community. Players are waiting for an update for one of the champions that has long been waiting for a full refresh. It’s all about Udyr’s VGU, of course, the hero that arrived on Summoner’s Rift on December 2, 2009. Over the years, the character has aged a lot, so it’s time to refresh his skills and graphics to better fit the current standards of the game.
Udyr is also a Champion who is one of the few to have a super skin. This, of course, will also be modernized – its model, animations, and splash art will change. There will be a refreshment of the icons that were included.
What about the people who have them? Will the old icons be removed or will they be automatically converted to new versions?

In the description of the update there is information that the icons of the ultimate Udyr skin will be renewed. Old versions will disappear from the store and will not be available for purchase after the VGU is rolled out to the servers. What about people who purchased the skin and icons long before then?
We’re introducing a set of five new icons to match Spirit Guard Udyr’s new look. The original icons will no longer be obtainable, but they’ll stick around in your inventory if you’ve got ’em. You’ll get the new ones automatically when you buy Spirit Guard Udyr, and if you already own him you can pick them up in the store for 5 RP.
As you can see, players who purchased the ultimate skin before Udyr’s rework will keep the old versions of the icons, and they will be able to unlock new ones at a very low price.
