Should LoL remove the shoes completely? This is a trend that appears more and more in other mobas
The LoL community is considering a controversial gameplay change.
League of Legends is already a relatively old game that has maintained its peak popularity for years. This is mainly because the developers regularly release updates to balance the gameplay, and each season you can observe a larger or smaller set of novelties. Virtually every key element of the game has undergone more or less changes, and one of them is items.
Lots of new items have been added to LoL and many of them have been removed. However, there is a group of items that are very rarely mentioned in regular updates. We are talking about shoes which, in addition to increasing the speed of movement, provide the hero with additional statistics depending on which one they choose.
Some people believe that they occupy a valuable slot and that removing them could bring many benefits. Why exactly would part of the community want to get rid of shoes from League?
Should shoes disappear from LoL?
Footwear is an indispensable part of any complete build. The extra movement speed helps in both escaping and chasing enemies. It also becomes much easier to avoid abilities that the opponent has to target at the hero. Apart from movement speed, each type of shoes increases the statistics that are useful for the respective classes.
Some players, however, believe that this type of item should be removed, and another MOBA game that has recently undergone a similar change was given as an example.
In LoL, a lot of characters rely on their speed of movement much more than others. There is also Cassiopeia with a passive ability, which forbids her to buy shoes, but in return grants the heroine movement speed along with the level.
Removing the footwear would allow players to purchase a sixth legendary item, which would not only increase the overall damage and resistance of more defensive heroes but also increase the impact of the mythical item.
The designers would have to really test these changes well before rolling them to the servers, as each character has used boots in their build so far.
Even though Riot is unlikely to make such a risky move, the discussions held by the community are really interesting. Thanks to it, many fans can realize how important the speed of movement is.
