Should League of Legends heroes cheapen faster? What does the game community thinks about this?

Why do players think Riot should lower the prices of LoL characters faster?

In League of Legends, fans have a lot of heroes at their disposal, but you have to reckon with the fact that unlocking each of them comes with a specific cost in the form of Blue Essence. Due to the fact that new characters are constantly coming to LoL, the amount of essence required to unlock literally all of them is constantly growing.

Riot is trying to help players a bit in this task by lowering the prices of older champions during regular releases. Fans believe, however, that the reduced prices are definitely not enough. What arguments do players use when trying to reason for more frequent discounts?

Should heroes be cheaper?

Characters with a starting price of 7,800 Blue Essence regularly find their way to League of Legends. This lasts for a week and then drops to 6300. The premiere of each hero is also associated with a reduction in the prices of those that could be purchased earlier.

The oldest champion worth 6300 after the release of a new character costs 4800. Fans believe that Riot should take a look at this system again because unlocking all champions by a new player is a really difficult task for now.

According to my estimates, it takes roughly 1200 hours of pure gametime (not including queues and picks and loading times) to unlock every champ in the game without paying in the best case scenario (with max BE gains from leveling, and buying every champ for 60% of its price with champion shards).

Also some 13 year old champions still cost 3150, and some 12 year old champions still cost 4800. Shouldn’t riot reduce the cost of champions a bit faster than they do currently?

Besides the fact that unlocking all heroes takes a really huge amount of time, some players may be surprised when they check the store and see the prices of some older characters.

Since Riot is lowering the price of a character at 6,300 twice as often as those for 4,800, many heroes who have been in LoL for more than 10 years are still priced at 4,800. The price reduction also does not apply to Champions who cost 3150 or less.

As a result of this, you have decade old champs that are still not in the lowest price brackets. In one week twitch will become exactly 13 years old and he still costs 3150. BLitzcrank, Katarina, Heimerdinger, Karthus, Anivia, Kassadin, Gangplank, Corki, Shaco and Nidalee were all also released in 2009 and still cost 3150.

But if you look at 4800 champs you have similar things, with Kennen being the oldest 4800 champ, released in march 2010. This champion was released 12 years ago and is still on the second most expensive price bracket. 26 champs from between 2010 and 2011 still cost 4800.

The LoL community has a lot of arguments to make Riot look again at how character prices are being reduced. Unfortunately, many fans believe that nothing will change in this regard. In their opinion, the creators of LoL want players to spend more time in it, because this could result in more earnings.
