Riot started doing weird things. The controversial changes that were to come to LoL have just been abandoned

League of Legends

Riot has decided to roll back some of the planned changes, at least for patch 12.11.

Riot has had a really big problem lately when it comes to assassin damage. Every now and then changes are proposed that somehow affect the speed of character elimination. Twitter, Reddit, all of these places are full of Rioters talking with the community.

The result of these discussions is the abandonment of some of the changes that were planned for update 12.11. It is specifically about “lethality”, something that many people don’t even know about. It is a statistic that is often confused with a completely different one.

Riot gives up on some buffs

In recent weeks, Riot has introduced changes to limit the possibility of oneshoting. In an introductory note for patch 12.11, it was stated that “lethality” must be raised.

According to the players, this would in some way bring back oneshot to the game. As a result, many threads have arisen on Reddit on this topic. Why were people complaining about this?

The developers planned to increase lethality in several items. Let’s recall what this statistic is anyway:

Lethality is the statistic that represents flat armor penetration. It grants flat armor penetration using the following formula:

  • Flat Armor Penetration = LETHALITY × (0.6 + 0.4 × level ÷ 18)

According to the formula, Lethality grants 62.22% − 100% (based on level) of its value.

According to players, increasing the lethality would revert to the old system. In theory, the changes were only by a few points, but in practice, it could actually have an effect on LoL. So Riot said they were giving up this idea.

In the explanations, there is information that Riot will still want to take care of it, but only after analyzing the statistics from patch 12.11. The community has divided into those who support it and those who complain that the developers are guided by the opinion of Reddit.

Damage is still a very controversial topic. Everyone wants to win something for themselves and you can see a very strong division of players in specific ranks.
