One LoL player’s controversial idea for Victorious Skins has divided the community

One of the League of Legends fans proposed a rather unusual solution when it comes to Victorious skins.

The Victorious skins you get by getting to Gold or higher are incredibly valuable collectibles. It’s not only because to get a skin you have to play ranked games and get at least to Gold, but also because these skins cannot be unlocked in any other way – they cannot be dropped, obtained from a gift or unlocked for the Mythic Essence.

All this makes their value increase significantly, and many players dream of having all of them.

As you know, it’s the creators who decide who gets the Victorious Skin in each season. Players cannot choose to whom they will receive this type of skin. If they don’t play the champion (and have not even unlocked it), which the newest Victorious was designed for, and they got to Gold, they will get both the skin and this hero.

According to some, it is really sad that some cosmetic additives in this series were released more than 10 years ago. This means that some fans would not have a chance to get them, not because they are doing poorly in ranked games, but simply due to the fact that at the time they did not even know about LoL’s existence (or were too young to play).

Victorious skins for tokens?

One of the players came up with a controversial idea that, in his opinion, would solve the problem of the people described above. A user with the nickname XenWarriorTheReal wrote:

End of Season Reward should be a Victorious Skin Token. Getting a Victorious Skin for your main is the dream of many players… but some people will never get to have this victorious feeling, because this game is 13 years old. There are people in high school who were not born when this game was released, and that means that they will never be able to get a victorious skin for their main if they released a skin for it when they were 3 years old.

Imagine if at the end of the season, they gave you a Token as your end of season reward where you could redeem a victorious skin of your choice. Either get the one from this year with all the chromas associated with your rank and everything, or get one of the base version of one of the old ones.

There’s nothing more disappointing then grinding all year long to get your reward that is a skin for a role you hate, so this could be mitigated to a degree. And for the people that got the original skins on the first year, they could get some flair for it like Championship Riven got for her skin when they released her from the vault, be it a crown, a chroma and/or a loading border.

The player stated that such a solution would not only please people who started their adventure with rankineds only after many years but would also motivate other people to try to get higher ranks because the reward for it would be personalized in some way.

As you might expect, the idea has been severely criticized by many people. They claimed that something like this takes away the point of Victorious skins, which are assumed to be unique and can only be earned once. Many commenters felt that they would feel cheated if someone today just got Victorious Jarvan or Janne.
