Riot shared a video featuring refreshed Nami. Which skins will be changed and to what extent?
From year to year, the older characters increasingly deviate from the current standards that the creators follow when designing new heroes. The characters released years ago no longer look as good as the champions who just appear on Summoner’s Rift.
Designers began to update the older part of the pool, and as a complete gameplay refresh requires a huge amount of work, there are also VFX updates that focus solely on the visuals and the sound aspect.
VFX Nami Update
This time, the creators decided to take a look at Nami – the heroine who hit Summoner’s Rift in December 2012, almost 10 years ago. As you can guess, Nami’s animations and sound effects are not as polished as they are in the case of the heroes we were introduced just now. For this reason, Riot decided to take a look at the character and refresh it a bit.
Similar to the previous VFX updates we’ve made in the past (Leona, Orianna, Vel’koz, etc.), we’re working on updates to the Visual Effects (VFX) of champions whose spell effects are in need of some love. Our aim is to get their VFXs to current League standards and improve gameplay clarity.
It is now time for time Nami’s, targeted for the 12.10 patch! The update is focused on optimization and modernizing her kit. This update is focused on base and matching her older skins with that one, as most of her skins look great already!
