More ranked adjustments in League of Legends. How does Riot evaluate the previous changes in earning LPs?

Riot is announcing further changes to earning points in the ranking system in LoL.

Ranking achievements are really important for many League of Legends players. So it’s no surprise that both the community and the developers themselves are taking rankeds seriously.

Riot strives to make climbing the ranking ladder fair. This applies not only to the balance of heroes, items, or runes but also to how LPs are earned in different situations.

From time to time, the point distribution system is modified and improved to make it work even better. The developers have indicated that while they are satisfied with the recent changes, they still want to make some minor improvements.

Further work on ranked games

As it was mentioned above, Riot is constantly trying to improve its ranking system. According to the developers, the recently introduced changes are satisfactory, but this does not mean that it is already perfect.

In the description of the latest update, you can read about what Riot thinks about the recent changes to the system for earning LPs and what else it wants to change.

We’re generally happy with how the LP gain changes have been going, but we have some small follow up tweaks to make the experience even more smooth.

Further improvements that Riot has planned are as follows:

  • LP win and loss amount when your visible rank approximately matches your MMR from 22 ⇒ 25.
  • Slightly smoothed LP gain/loss values at the extremes of MMR and Rank disparity.
    • Clarified the lobby tooltip for ranked duo queue restriction when one player’s MMR is at Master tier or above.
