League of Legends’ Elise will get the VFX update. What does the refreshed heroine look like?

League of Legends

Elise has received completely new animations and sound effects for her skills.

League of Legends is a game that is over 12 years old. So it’s no surprise that many characters have gotten very old (even if they’ve been getting some updates in the meantime).

The creators want the gameplay to be still transparent, and since frequent reworking is not needed (and would be difficult to implement), VFX comes with the help, i.e. the update of the champion’s visual effects.

Elise and her VFX update

The end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022 are a period of refreshing many heroes from League of Legends. So far, several characters have received their VFX, including Syndra, Vayne, Varus, Vel’Koz and more. The creators want the older champions to better match the current state of the game, and thus – their skills are more readable.

As with previous VFX updates we’ve made in the past (Syndra, Zilean, Malzahar, Varus, etc), we’re working on updating the VFX of champions whose abilities need a little love on our part. Our goal is to bring these champions’ visuals up to date with League standards and to improve gameplay clarity.

This time Elise will get the VFX. The heroine appeared on Summoner’s Rift on October 26, 2012. She is an incredibly distinctive character, mainly due to the fact that she can change into a spider. The creators found that the effects of her skills have already gotten old, so they were refreshed both in the basic version and in individual skins.

Below is a video comparing the old and new characters’ VFX:

Not all skins of the heroine have been improved. Newer skins – Bewitching (2020) and Withered Rose (2022) have not received any changes. What has changed for Death Blossom, Blood Moon, Super Galaxy, and SKT T1 can be seen in the comparison above.
