After 24 hours, Riot admits that it was too much. The character started winning the most games in LoL

League of Legends

Riot announced upcoming nerfs for one of the characters.

Some time ago, League of Legends players were able to learn about Riot’s plans for Master Yi. The amendments were mainly aimed at weakening the build based on the Duskblade of Draktharr item. The effect desired by the designers was achieved, but the side effect is a significant increase in the strength of the on-hit build, and as a result, the overall improvement of the Master’s situation.

It got to the point that Riot has to introduce fast nerfs because Master starts to win way too many games. Master is currently TOP 1 when it comes to winrate.

What’s next for Master Yi?

In update 12.4, the champion enjoyed a relatively high pick rate of 6% and a win rate of 52%. It would seem that everything is normal and the champion does not need any corrections. After a deeper analysis, however, it could be noticed that the build for Duskblade was chosen much more often, which the designers did not really like.

Riot issued fixes to make the champion deals less damage when it comes to base stats but introduced a mechanic that causes his Q – Alpha Strike to now apply basic attack effects.

Ultimately, the changes had a really good effect on the hero, and as you can learn from the designers’ entries, even they did not expect such an increase in the win rate.

Riot Captain announces that the appropriate champion fixes will be introduced soon, which will bring his power to standard values.

At the moment, however, Master Yi in Update 12.5 wins the most games, while not getting banned as often as anyone would expect.
