A way to create a monster – adding new textures to the old character model from LoL
This is what LoL champions would look like if you mixed up their old model with new textures.
There are over 150 heroes in League of Legends. The game has been around for many years, so it’s no surprise that some of the characters have gotten old. In such situations, rework comes to the rescue, refreshing not only the champion model but also its skills, animations, statements, and splash art.
Rework is not a simple project, so the creators involve a group of people who are responsible for individual elements. Such work usually takes months and is resource-intensive.
Older players may remember the angular and somewhat monstrous models of the oldest heroes. It must be admitted that the origins of LoL were not the most beautiful and today those times are remembered with a slight smirk. Some models are hard to forget – the first version of the Soraka is a good example.
What would happen if new, refreshed, and polished textures were applied to the old champion model? The effect may be a bit scary
Caricatures of heroes from League of Legends
There are quite specific graphics on the Internet that show Dr. Mundo and Udyr. As most fans know, Riot is working on a rework of the latter – a lot of concept art and announcements have been published online to interest the League of Legends community.
In the case of Mundo, the situation was quite similar, because in the first half of last year he got a full update and since then he can enjoy a refreshed model and polished textures.
What would happen if the textures created during the rework were applied to the old, angular models of the heroes? It turns out that something like this would arise:
The presented models look really absurd. Many players find that looking at them makes them laugh, but there are some who feel anxious. The comments highlight some strange elements of the heroes, such as an eye on a shoulder or Udyr’s bracelet made of his own skin.
